Bonnezeaux Les Melleresses René Renou 50cl 2001
The wine
Les Melleresses has a generous nose of jellied fruit, quince, and marmalade, with some spicy notes. The well-balanced palate is both velvety and fresh with a long, lemony finish.
About the Producer René Renou
Well-known Bonnezeaux producer René Renou was also President of the Institut National des Appellations d'Origine’s Comité Vins. Seventh in a line of Loire winegrowers, in 1995 he decided to reduce his property to 8 hectares so that alongside his committee responsibilities, he could concentrate purely on producing premium quality, sweet white wines. He was a meticulous winegrower, tending his shale and flint plots, harvesting by hand and screening the grapes successively. René Renou died in June 2006 and his son now runs the domain.
