Lot presentation

The Last Vatted Grain Compass Box bottled 2011 Limited Edition of 297 bottles

The wine

Bottled by the blending company Compass Box on 22 November 2011, just as new legislation for Scottish whisky came into force, The Last Vatted Grain was the last whisky able to use the term “vatted grain”. As of 23 November 2011, these bottlings must now be called “blended grains”, marking a new chapter in the history of whisky. Composed of 31% Invergordon 42 Year Old, 14% Carsebridge 29 Year Old, 20% Port Dundas 20 Year Old and 35% Cameronbridge 14 Year Old, it was a limited edition of 297 bottles released in conjunction with another bottling, The Last Vatted Malt.

About the Producer Compass Box Whisky

Compass Box is unique in the world of whisky. Founded in 2000, it is a small independent company specializing in the blending of whiskies bought from large producers. Compass Box has made this its speciality, becoming a master in its fields of blended malts, blended grains and blended whisky, with each category represented in its portfolio. It is also a company with a deep-rooted philosophy, elevating blending to a worthy, noble task, distancing itself from its industrial image and reasserting the value of its craft as a ‘whiskymaker'.
