About the Producer MacDonald Greenlees
Thomas Parr, nicknamed Old Parr or Old Tom Parr, was an Englishman said to have lived to the age of 152 (1438-1635). Taking inspiration from this legendary icon, in 1909 brothers James and Samuel Greenlees created a blended whisky named Grand Old Parr. It experienced unprecedented success in Japan, Mexico, the United States and South America. In 1925, the group was incorporated into DCL, Diageo's predecessor, and was widely distributed abroad. Since this time, Cragganmore has been the key malt in the blend, with Glendullan becoming another important element in the 1940s.
