Lirac Clos de Sixte Alain Jaume 2012
The wine
This Lirac red is made with Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured for 14 months in concrete vats (70%) or oak barrels (30%). It has an intense purple colour with notes of very ripe, almost liqueur-like, red and dark fruits on the nose. Its full-flavoured and spicy palate culminates in lingering notes of liquorice and pepper. We recommend keeping this wine in the cellar for a few years and decanting it to a carafe before serving.
About the Producer Clos de Sixte
This domain belongs to Alain Jaume and his sons, Sébastien and Christophe. All three are born and bred in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, continuing their family's winemaking tradition which began in the early 19th century. The domain is run according to organic principles and covers 65 hectares in all. The owners actually have two other domains: Grand Veneur in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Château Mazane in Vacqueyras.
