More info

This long-standing Chassagne-Montrachet estate, property of the Cornut family since 1940, produces exceptional wines from their remarkable climats, both red and white. The white Chassagne-Montrachet is a perfect introduction to the estate’s style, offering a wonderful harmony between indulgence and aromatic complexity. The structure is supported by a crisp acidity that lifts the ripe fruit, with enticing notes of white-fleshed fruits like apricot and peach taking centre stage. The finish is long and precise, with a touch of bitterness that gives it a beautiful length, gradually fading into delicate saline notes.
This wine truly embodies the typical Chassagne-Montrachet character, with its round, soft and full texture and refreshing acidity. While it’s best enjoyed between three and five years after bottling to capture the vibrant fruit, you can also keep it for up to twelve years to let it evolve into a more refined version of itself. It pairs wonderfully with a dish like skate wing with capers.

About the Producer Château de la Maltroye

Owned since 1940 by the Cournut family, Château de la Maltroye, located in Chassagne-Montrachet, has 13 hectares of vineyards, 70% of which are premier cru and two hectares are in Santenay. In the cellar, the whites are fermented in barrels with lees stirring, their élevage lasting 12 months. The reds undergo cold pre-fermentation and their barrel élevage lasts between 14 and 18 months. The domaine is managed by Jean-Pierre Cornut, a former aeronautical engineer. The wines are high-quality, fresh and fruity, with great potential.
