More info

Here is a truly prestigious wine. From the Grands Echezeaux grand cru, the Pinot Noir vines are grown sustainably in a deep soil rich in pebbles and limestone, with a chalky sub-soil. This allows the earth to conserve heat well. Located at 260 metres of altitude, the vines are between 45 and 70 years old, and all the work carried out on them is by hand. During vinification, the choice of whether to destem the bunches or not depends on the quality of the vintage. The wine is then matured in oak casks. We recommend keeping it in the cellar for a few years so it can refine. It has a deep colour flecked with crimson and violet, and a complex aromatic bouquet. We also find notes of red and black fruits, cherry, white pepper, leather, spices and plum. Subtle and refined, this cuvée is balanced with good structure, allowing for gastronomic pairings with characterful dishes like refined cheeses and game.

About the Producer Mongeard-Mugneret

Today, the Mongeard-Mugneret domain manages, in true Burgundy tradition, a large number of vineyards which spread across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, encompassing the most prestigious "villages" (Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Vougeot, Nuits Saint Georges and Savigny les Beaune). The heart of the domain remains at Vosne Romanée. Vincent Longeard, Jean's son, endeavours not only to look after and improve the family's heritage, but also to extend the domain's range of wines whenever an opportunity arises. Today, the domain counts roughly 30 hectares, spread over 33 appellations producing Burgundy whites and Aligotés, but it mainly produces red wines that come from the best vineyards of the Côte. The vineyard, situated at mid-slope, is south-east orientated and on clay-limestone soil.
