Volnay 1er Cru Santenots du Milieu François Mikulski 2006
The wine
Originating from the finest plot in the Santenots appellation, Santenots-du-Milieu in Volnay, this premier cru is the fruit of vines with an average age of 45 years. The wine offers intense aromas of red berries, cherries and smoked meat. On the palate, however, the wine retains a charming yet ripe freshness, enhanced with liquorice, tobacco and even chocolate touches. This wine can be enjoyed while still young, but it will also keep for fifteen years or so.
About the Producer François Mikulski
François Mikulski created his domaine in Meursault with his wife Marie-Pierre in 1991. The vineyard consists of four plots of premier crus (Genevrières, Charmes, Poruzot and Goutte d''Or). Great attention is paid to the vineyards which are managed in an environmentally friendly way. Wines mature for 16 to 18 months in the barriques, of which rarely more than 20% are new. The whole range has great quality, offering depth, complexity and finesse.
