Information
Domaine Comte Senard is nestled in the heart of the charming Burgundy village of Aloxe-Corton. The vineyard was established in 1857 by Jules Senard, who passionately developed his two hectares of vines. Today it boasts ten hectares of vines, including eight hectares of Pinot Noir red grapes and two hectares of Chardonnay. Convinced that to produce great wines, quality raw materials are essential, the winemaker applies the same meticulous care in the cellar as they do in the vineyards. Well aware of the current environmental concerns and with a view to protecting biodiversity, they carry out each step in the vineyard with great respect for the soil and the environment and is currently in the process of converting to organic agricultural practices. After conducting harvests entirely by hand, the vinification process is carried out with minimal intervention and only minute amounts of sulphur are added to allow the fruit to express its full range of aromas. Domaine Comte Senard offers authentic vintages reflecting the exceptional terroir of Burgundy.
Located at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, in the Côtes-d’Or region, the Corton Grand Cru appellation is undoubtedly a reference to the finest cuvées of the region that the Domaine Comte Senard crafts with passion. The Chardonnay vines, on average fifty years old, are exclusively harvested by hand. After being carefully sorted in the vineyard, the grapes are transported to the winery where they are vinified at a very low temperature. The cuvée is then carefully aged for 12 months in 350 litres oak casks, 40% of which are new, before being bottled.
The light colour, graced with golden tints, is sublimated by a fine, elegant bouquet, characterised by subtle aromas of yellow fruit. The palate affirms the aromas of the nose while revealing a fine minerality leading to a persistent finish. This cuvée can be laid down for around a decade to further develop its more complex flavours.
