Information
Domaine de Cassiopée, located in the heart of the charming Burgundy commune of Sampigny-lès-Maranges, is run by Hugo and Talloulah Mathurin, a young couple of enthusiastic winemakers. Established in 2020, the vineyard boasts 5 hectares of vines stretching across some of the region’s finest appellations. Their ambition is to produce wines that perfectly reflect the identity and characteristics of each of their plots. To achieve this, they cultivate each parcel in a specific way, providing them with all the care they need. Each step in the vineyards is carried out with the utmost respect for the soil and biodiversity. In the winery, vinification involves minimal intervention and sulphur is used in minute quantities. It is in this peaceful, harmonious setting that the young winemakers produce fragrant, authentic wines that perfectly reflect the grape varieties and terroir in the purest Burgundian tradition.
The en Gerlius climat nestles in the nearby commune of Chassey le Camp, along an ideally north-east-facing slope. The Pinot Noir vines are surrounded by a forest on one side and a few elder trees and beehives on the other. The vines average 50 years and produce low yields, resulting in deep, concentrated red wines. At the same time, the estate follows healthy viticulture practices, respecting the principles of organic farming. After the harvest, the Pinot Noir grapes are vinified with a small proportion of whole bunches. The cuvée is aged for a long period before bottling.
The bright, luminous ruby colour reveals a generous bouquet bursting with intense red fruits including strawberry and cherry. The expressive, structured palate reveals firm and delicate tannins leading to a concentrated and lingering finish.
