Information
The commune of Santenay lies at the heart of the Côte de Beaune , one of the many Burgundy appellations with a rich viticultural history. The Labruyère-Prieur estate easily settled into this terroir to produce this Santenay Premier Cru, from the plot known as "La Comme", a name that evokes the small combe where the hillside is cut. The parcel benefits from clay-loam soils with a high concentration of stones as well as an east/south-east exposure. The vines grow at an altitude of around 250 metres and the climat is slightly windy.
The grapes are hand-picked, sorted and completely destemmed before being placed in vats for 24 days in open wooden containers. The wines are then aged for 19 months, exclusively in oak casks.
The nose is complex and plays with the senses, with black fruit aromas, on the one hand, and roasted notes and a subtle hint of liquorice on the other. The palate is intense, with pronounced fruit and powerful spices. The tasting experience proves extremely flavourful right through to the warm finish.
