Information
Situated at the north Italian border, at the heart of the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia appellation, Miani benefits from its northern position at the foot of the Alps; the climate here is temperate and continental, refreshed by the cool air of the mountains. Led masterfully by Enzo Pontoni, this domain has forged a reputation through the producer's true love for his plants and other raw materials. The work carried out in the vines is meticulous in order to preserve the terroir and let it express itself through these intense resulting wines. In the same vein, work in the cellar leaves nothing to chance, letting the dynamic aspects of nature come through with precise proceedings. These wines are sought for their maturity, their refinement, and their strong personality. The whites and reds alike can be enjoyed young or after a bit of ageing, served at the table with a regional dish, for example.
This Chardonnay comes from one of Italy’s northernmost vineyards, neighbouring Slovenia and Austria. The grapes benefit from the region’s clay-rich soil, a south and south-eastern exposure, and the careful farming practiced by grower Enzo Pontoni. He considers each of his plants to be unique. In the winery, the domain opts for fermentation in French oak casks as well as a maturation in barrels before bottling a year later. This wine has an intense, yellow colour with golden flecks. Its dense aromatic bouquet is marked by candied fruit, citrus zest, nuts, and herbs. The palate is ample with fruity notes and a profile that lingers. We recommend enjoying this cuvée in its first ten years with freshwater fish, lemon pasta, or creamy goats’ cheese.
