Information
Situated at the north Italian border, at the heart of the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia appellation, Miani benefits from its northern position at the foot of the Alps; the climate here is temperate and continental, refreshed by the cool air of the mountains. Led masterfully by Enzo Pontoni, this domain has forged a reputation through the producer's true love for his plants and other raw materials. The work carried out in the vines is meticulous in order to preserve the terroir and let it express itself through these intense resulting wines. In the same vein, work in the cellar leaves nothing to chance, letting the dynamic aspects of nature come through with precise proceedings. These wines are sought for their maturity, their refinement, and their strong personality. The whites and reds alike can be enjoyed young or after a bit of ageing, served at the table with a regional dish, for example.
Since he places all that is living at the heart of his work, Enzo Pontonu makes carefully-crafted wines, with the goal of letting the terroir express itself. For this cuvée he blended varietals like Merlot, Cabernet franc and Cabernet sauvignon cultivated in the hills of Friuli. The percentages of each grape vary depending on the vintage. Maturation takes two months in oak casks. After a few years of well-deserved ageing, the wine gives off an intense and complex aromatic bouquet, in which you can sense notes of cherry, plum, pepper, dried flowers, tobacco and cloves. Dynamic with a good texture, this wine has delicate tannins with a juiciness and balance that persist. As you can imagine, gastronomic pairings are recommended; something like meat in sauce, aubergine, or mushrooms would go nicely.
