Information
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial is the icon of Rully. The Dureuil-Janthial family is one of the oldest of the village, where it has been present since the 13th century. Since 1994, Céline and Vincent Dureuil have been in charge. The vineyard extends over 17 hectares, mainly in the Côte Chalonnaise but also in Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, all on 20 different appellations. It has been certified in organic farming since 2009 and uses certain biodynamic practices, including respect for the lunar calendar. The work is precise and the élevage in particular has made great progress, producing very fine wines. The entire range is reliable and excellent value.
This red Rully owes its name to the climat and lieu-dit it comes from, at the centre of this Côte Chalonnaise appellation. The Pinot noir cultivated by this domain grows on a sunny, early-ripening parcel at the bottom of a slope. These were planted in the 1950s and benefit from clay-rich soil.
To craft this wine, the domain began with organic growing and meticulous vinification. This includes harvesting by hand, rigorous sorting, and vatting in cone-shaped, wooden containers. Stirring and pumping over are carried out to extract colour, flavour, and texture before a 12-month fermentation in casks and a 6-month maturation in steel vats. Bottling is carried out according to the lunar calendar.
This wine has a superb capacity for ageing. Concentrated, it has an intensely ripe aromatic bouquet and fine tannins that structure an ample palate. To savour with equally rich dishes!
