Information
Maison Savart describes itself as a producer of "auteur" wines. Lying 10 km west of Reims, the domain is in the village of Ecueil which has specialised in growing Pinot Noir for many years. Frédéric Savart has made the 4 hectare property his own, continuing his father's work on this "laboratory of terroirs". He produces exciting, fresh and quite varietal champagnes always with a predominance of Pinot Noir. Its limited production (40,000 bottles approximately) make it well worth the detour!
This rosé champagne is crafted to have a powerful profile. Frédéric Savart has blended Pinot noir with Chardonnay matured in oak casks after partial malolactic fermentation. It has an extra-brut dosage of 0-6 grams per litre.
In the glass we find a salmon-pink wine with fine bubbles. It gives off notes of small, red fruit, citrus zest, nut, gentle spice, and flowers. Its palate is nicely structured with a fruity roundness and a vinous touch, the hallmark of this rising star.
We recommend savouring this cuvée at the table with a delicate dish like salmon or roast chicken and cranberry.
