Information
The discrete Domaine Henri Magnien crafts a Gevrey-Chambertin from the property’s older vines. Loyal to the appellation’s renown, this wine delights with its density, power, and concentration. The Pinot noir used to make it expresses the essence of its terroir, an area characterised by chalk and marl soil.
In the glass we fine a ruby-red wine that will take on a garnet hue in time. It carries an aromatic bouquet of red fruit (cherry, raspberry), black fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry) and violet. Maturing the wine in oak casks confers some final notes of gentle spice, whilst also bringing a dense texture structured by lovely tannins. We recommend keeping this wine for several years in the cellar in order to appreciate its evolution; it will develop wilder hints of musk, earth, and mushroom.
You might like to pair this cuvée with a characterful dish like brie or beef bourguignon.
