Information
Founded in 1974, Il Marroneto owes its name to an ancient mediaeval tower in which nuns used to store the chestnuts they used for making flour. Today, Alessandro and Andrea have taken over the baton from their father Mori. These two former lawyers have established excellent credentials as wine producers. Alessandro creates extremely elegant wines by raising healthy vines, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation, and ageing his wines traditionally in casks.
This wine is Brunello di Montalcino’s little brother. Of the same grape variety and the same climate, it has similar characteristics. It’s a fresh wine due to its alpine and oceanic influence. The élevage period is shorter than for the Brunello, 8 months rather than five years. So it is not heavily marked by its élevage and is bursting with fruity aromas.
