Information
This domaine, which belonged to the Pinson family and whose origins go back to 1640, is now run by the two brothers Laurent and Christophe Pinson, and Charlène (Laurent's daughter) who joined them in 2008. Major works were undertaken in 2004, including the construction of a new fermentation cell, the expansion of the storage buildings and the installation of a new pressing room. The vineyard extends over 12 hectares and uses one tenth of the "Les Clos" climat, the average age of the vines is 35 years old, the harvest is manual and the grapes harvested first ferment in vats and then in barrels.
Located not too far from the Les Fôrets premier cru, Montmain is a premier cru that benefits from a soil of clay and chalk. The Chardonnay from which it is made is over forty years old and grown exposed to the east and south-east. The domain opted for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation as well as maturation on fine lees in used, oak barrels. Thus, the wine preserves the freshness and delicate character of its grapes all while revealing gently spicy notes and a persistent finish.
