Information
Wine has featured prominently in this family since the 14th century and a passion for Grenache, king of grapes in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, has been passed on down the generations. The present-day property covers some 15 hectares, primarily in the north, north-eastern part of this illustrious appellation. Every step is taken to allow the vines to express their potential as nature intended. This means natural fertilisers, manual harvests and only the very best grape clusters. The vinification process is slow and low-intervention. Julien Barrot and his eldest sister Laetitia currently run the business. The wines have great finesse and are delightfully fruity.
Vinified in buried concrete vats, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan were destemmed before macerating for a long time (four weeks) and benefiting from gentle extraction stages. The wine is aged in foudres and demi-muids for 18 months but is not filtered before the bottling process. On tasting, it reveals intense notes of raspberries, blackberries, flowers such as violet and white pepper. A beautiful minerality enlivens its palate, offering up a crisp, mouth-watering profile. You will be able to keep this cuvée for a good ten years in the cellar in order to let it open up fully.
