Information
Domaine Bart, in Marsannay, has been a family property for six generations and since 1982 it has been André Bart’s two children, Martin and Odile (cousins of Bruno Clair) who manage it. Today, the vineyard extends over 20 hectares. The wines of this area present 77 fairly classic styles, frank and expressive, with good value for money.
This cuvée is produced in a parcel of little over one hectare in one of Marsannay's most sought-after climats. Despite its quality, it has no premier cru or grand cru classification, for the simple reason that the appellation itself also has none. Here, Domaine Bart's vines are cultivated in clay-rich soils. And this fact, combined with a fifteen-month élevage in barrique barrels (20-30% new wood), results in a fairly powerful wine. The bouquet reveals some attractively evident red berry aromas, and the palate is very indulgent. This wine should be enjoyed in its first ten years, and will be a treat served with game.
