    Information
    About the producer

Today, the Mongeard-Mugneret domain manages, in true Burgundy tradition, a large number of vineyards which spread across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, encompassing the most prestigious "villages" (Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Vougeot, Nuits Saint Georges and Savigny les Beaune). The heart of the domain remains at Vosne Romanée. Vincent Longeard, Jean's son, endeavours not only to look after and improve the family's heritage, but also to extend the domain's range of wines whenever an opportunity arises. Today, the domain counts roughly 30 hectares, spread over 33 appellations producing Burgundy whites and Aligotés, but it mainly produces red wines that come from the best vineyards of the Côte. The vineyard, situated at mid-slope, is south-east orientated and on clay-limestone soil.

    About the wine

Around 60 years old, the Pinot Noir used to make this cuvée is cultivated on Jurassic land in Vougeot, soil that is characterised by its gravel and chalk content on deep, red clay. This particular Pinot Noir comes from the lieu-dit of “Les Plantes”, an area perfectly exposed to the east and south-east, bringing the grapes to ideal maturity. Harvested by hand, it is carefully sorted and destemmed before a vinification that finishes with a maturation in two-wine casks. These used casks ensure that the wine isn’t too heavily marked by toasted notes or astringent tannins. In the glass, this cuvée has a crimson colour marked with flecks of ruby. The aromatic bouquet is defined by notes of small, red fruits. Ageing this wine in the cellar encourages the evolution of earthy and gently spiced aromas. Due to its elegance and typicity, this wine can also be enjoyed in its youth. It will pair nicely with small game or an autumn vegetable gratin, for example.
