Information
Christophe Peyrus is one of the co-owners of the Clos Marie. He is therefore a key figure in the Languedoc vineyards, and the Pic Saint-Loup in particular. Never one to turn down a fresh challenge, he acquired parcels of land – still in the Pic Saint-Loup – on high ground in the Cazevieille terroir. This new adventure began with the 2013 vintage, with the help of three partners. The vineyards, which cover just over 6 hectares, are organically cultivated. The wines are very well balanced, with a genuinely exciting freshness. The domain is already receiving critical acclaim after just a few vintages. One to watch carefully.
This predominantly Syrah cuvée is produced from a tiny vineyard plot at the foot of the Pic-Saint-Loup. Although not certified (but should be soon) the grapes are cultivated organically and meticulously vinified the traditional way. The wine is aged in concrete vats for 18 months. The nose is light and delicate and the palate subtly reveals notes of red fruit and sweet spice. In a region where wines are sometimes criticised for being too 'ripe', it is unbelievably fresh and easy to drink.
