Information
In 1999, Jean-Baptiste officially took over Domaine Michel Bouzereau, proudly adding ‘et fils' to the estate name. This producer inherited a well-established family history, since the Bouzereaus have been making wine in Meursault for 7 generations. Observant and attentive, Jean-Baptiste spends most of his time in the vineyard, carefully watching the vines and working on the soil, convinced as he is that healthy fruit is the key to fine wine. The vines are grown sustainably with a philosophy moving towards organics. In 2008, he finished working on his new winery, giving him much more space to take care of each of his cuvées individually and adapt to their rhythm. The wines all come from parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Pommard and Volnay, each of them increasingly appreciated for their elegance and finesse. Each of them respect the specificity of terroir and vintage.
Planted in the late 1980s, the Chardonnay grapes of Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils are now starting to develop a most attractive personality. In this famous Meursault climat composed of limestone-marl soils, grapes are harvested manually. They are then vinified in oak barrels and matured for around a year and a half. Its long finish continues the aromas of citrus white flowers and nuts such as almond. The domain has produced a racy, dense cuvée which can be kept for at least fifteen years.
