Information
With 18.5 hectares spread over six appellations, Olivier Lamy – who runs the estate – is one of the best ambassadors of the Saint-Aubin appellation, which is sadly not well known and produces a superb alternative to Chassagne wines. These wines are perfectly pure, taut and elegant thanks to the carefully ageing work.
The Lamy family has been working in Saint-Aubin since the mid-17th century. It was Hubert Lamy, Olivier’s father, who created the estate in 1973 with eight hectares of vines. The property grew in the 1990s before Olivier Lamy joined his father in 1995 after finishing his studies in wine. Father and son bridge the worlds of tradition and innovation together before Hubert passed away in 2022 at the age of 79.
In the vineyard as in the winery, the work is carried out meticulously following organic principals (non-certified). The different terroirs are vinified separately in 600-litre barrels (with very little new wood). A not-to-be-missed estate in the Côte de Beaune!
The commune of Chassagne-Montrachet has acquired a worldwide reputation for the quality of its white wines. However, the proportion of Pinot has gradually decreased in favour of Chardonnay. Nevertheless, the commune possesses serious red climats too – a fact which is once again proven beyond doubt here by Domaine Hubert. This intense, sophisticated red will age gracefully.
