Information
After having made such an excellent name for the Domaine Marquis d'Angerville in Burgundy, Guillaume d'Angerville decided to fly the nest and set up shop in the Jura. In the last 10 years, Guillaume has gradually acquired three five hectares plots which form his new venture Domaine du Pélican, so called because of the pelican being the bird of Arbois. This young domain comprises some incredible and unique terroir. Some of the plots were completely untended for years by the previous owner. This allowed Guillame to replant vines on particularly healthy soil. And healthy these soils shall remain as Guillaume is invested in biodynamic viticulture.
The only red wine produced by Domaine du Pélican, Arbois Poulsard illustratees the remarkable rise of this domain, which benefits from Burgundian know-how. Matured in foudre tuns for 10 months, this wine is expressive, refined and – most importantly – made for keeping. Its appearance, typically for a Poulsard, is pale. The fresh bouquet produces aromas of fruit (red berries) and flowers (rose). The palate is full bodied, generous and yet still light.
