Information
A reputation acquired over a thirty-year period. La Spinetta was founded by Giuseppe and Lidia Rivetti in 1977 in the Moscato d'Asti region. But the Rivettis did not restrict themselves to producing delicious dessert wines. They swiftly diversified into red wines. In 2000, their dream of producing their first Barolo came true. They followed this up by buying vines in the Grinzane Cavour region and built a state-of-the-art cellar – Barolo Campe. In 2001, La Spinetta Campé extend beyond Piedmont with 65 hectares of Tuscan vines between Pisa and Volterra. Rivetti wines supplemented their range with 100% Sangiovese wines and definitively established the family's reputation as one of the leading winemaking families in Italy. All the bottle labels bear an engraving of a rhinoceros by Dürer, making them extremely easy to spot!
This Barbaresco has benefited from 22 months' élevage in French oak casks, followed by an additional one year of bottle ageing. It is best to wait a few years before opening, enabling it to develop its full aromatic and taste potential. The Nebbiolo grape will then seduce you with its floral, fruity notes and its abundantly ripe, fruity palate coated with refined tannins. Its elegant profile lends it to great pairings such as meat in sauce.
