Information
Bodegas Toro Albala was established in 1844 in Aguilar de la Frontera, 50 kilometres from Cordova, by Antonio Sánchez Prieto. The vineyard is now run by Antonio Sanchez Romero and the grape varieties grown include a high proportion of indigenous Pedro Ximenez. Toro Albala is divided between two main sites, one in Aguilar de la Frontera and the other in Moriles. Wine from this reference domaine for the region is exported to all four corners of the globe.
Don PX Gran Reserva is produced with raisined grapes that are sun-dried (off the vine and on mats) for a few days before pressing to make them more concentrated. This wine is also matured in oak barrels for 25 years. Its colour is so dark it is almost black, and its nose is very intense, with cocoa, tobacco, liquorice and rosemary aromas, and a subtle hint of vanilla and cinnamon. The elegant palate is both mellow and bitter, with delicate woody notes and a sublime, long and spicy finish.
