Information
In 1999, Silvio Massena returned from New York to embark on a new career. Accompanied by his wife Catalina and his son, he took over the family farm south of Florence in the Chianti Classico appellation. The property spans 49 hectares, 11.5 of which are planted with mostly Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot vines. Biodynamic agriculture is practised and the wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts. Some wines are even aged in amphorae.
This single-variety Sangiovese has an intense ruby-red visual aspect with notes of red berries and aromatic herbs. The palate is voluptuous, with a refined, enveloping tannic structure. The wine is possessed of a certain freshness, giving it a particularly seductive length.
