Information
The Campi di Fonterenza domaine in Sant' Angelo in Colle (in south Montalcino, Tuscany), is run by sisters Margherita and Francesca Padovani, known as the “Brunello twins”. They bought this former farm and began by growing olive trees there, before planting their first vines in 1999 and producing their first wine in 2004. Passionate about their terroir and eager to learn, they have embarked on biodynamic vineyard management and are trying to cut back on sulphur use. These two self-taught winemakers produce very fine wines which deserve a higher profile.
Brunello di Montalcino is matured in barrels for around four years before ageing for a further 6 months in the bottle. The nose produces aromas of great finesse, red and black berries and subtle notes of élevage. The palate is perfectly well balanced, with fruity, fresh flavours, indulgence and dazzling length.
