In the southern Rhône lies Domaine Charvin. The estate's 32 hectares are managed by the 6th generation of the family and produces wines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône appellations. Syrah and Grenache account for 90% of the vineyard, the rest being planted to Vaccaèse and Mourvèdre. The average age of vines is 45 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and 35 (Côtes-du-Rhône). They cultivated according to traditional methods and the grapes are harvested by hand; Yields are limited to 30hl/ha for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 50hl/ha for the Côtes du Rhône. Vinifications are also traditional with no destemming or filtration. The domain produces, on average, 100,000 bottles a year.

The cuvée A Côté is a clean and fruity wine which is very good value for money. The nose expresses aromas of red fruits, spicy notes and flowers. The palate is flavoursome, fruity and concentrated, with a nice finish.
