Information
The Confuron domain was taken over in 1988 by Alain and Sophie Meunier. Situated at Premeaux-Prissey very near to Nuit-Saints-Saint-Georges, the domain belonged to Sophie's father. They decided to convert to organic viticulture. Today, the vineyards count 8 hectares and produce 12 Côte de Nuits appellations. Among them are included the prestigious Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, Clos de Vougeot and Romanée Saint-Vivant Grands Crus. Since 2003, horses are used to work the domain's oldest parcel, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, which is 80 years old.
Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Chaboeufs comes from a 0.48-hectare plot planted in 1957. This wine is matured in wood. It is a powerful, concentrated wine, with aromas of black berries, licorice and woody notes. This cuvée requires a few years of aging and goes very well with lamb legs, and – in the case of powerful vintages – game such as doe.
