Information
The Palacios Remondo family can boast a winemaking pedigree dating back to 1651. Today, Alvaro Palacios is at the helm of the family domaine and produces some of Spain’s finest wines. Voted Spain’s most sensational wine producer by Wine Spectator, Alvaro Palacios places particular emphasis on vine management and avoids the use of chemicals wherever possible. His wines have big personalities, just like the man himself.
This cuvée from well-known winemaker Alvaro Palacios (Ermita) is a blend of Grenache, Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano from the Montesa vineyard. The vines here have been planted on the slopes of Monte Yerga in the east of the appellation which is known for the quality of its clay and limestone soil. The grapes are fermented, macerated and punched-down in oak vats for one month. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and 14 months of barrel-ageing in new French wood. The result is an intense wine, dominated by red fruit (cherry) and spice with plump tannins and a fresh and lingering finish.
