Information
The St. Urbans-Hof domaine, named after the German patron saint of wine producers, is located in Leiwen in the German Moselle region. It was founded in 1947 by the grandfather of the current owner, Nik Weis. The vineyard also extends into the Saar and now covers 34 hectares. The domaine is mostly planted with Riesling, with a small amount of Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder in German).
Wiltinger Alte Reben has an intense, straw gold colour. The nose is beautifully concentrated, with petrol-tinged aromas of white-fleshed fruit (peach) and vegetal notes. The palate is highly complex with aromas of stone fruit, flint and kerosene all set against a pleasant acidic backdrop. The finish has a rare persistence.
