Information
Luc Baudet has been proprietor of the 62 hectare Mas Neuf on the edge of the Camargue since 2000. His wines are produced from vineyards planted halfway up the southern slopes of the Costières de Nîmes appellation area where they benefit from plenty of sunshine and the Mediterranean breeze. The soils are very pebbly, allowing the rainwater to filter down and hydrate the vines in dry periods. This is a very nice domain that has worked its way towards the top in the appellation.
As its name suggests, Poignée de raisins ("handful of grapes") is a cuvée that feels like drinking the juice of the fruit itself. The domain produces a truly generous, fruity red Côtes du Rhône from young Grenache vines (aged between 4 and 30 years old), biodynamically cultivated on the hillsides and the Gramenon plateau, 350m above sea level. Harvested manually, its grape clusters are sorted before the 15-day maceration in a coarse cement tank. They are fermented with native yeasts. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is matured for 6 months in vats.
