Information
The Palacios Remondo family can boast a winemaking pedigree dating back to 1651. Today, Alvaro Palacios is at the helm of the family domaine and produces some of Spain’s finest wines. Voted Spain’s most sensational wine producer by Wine Spectator, Alvaro Palacios places particular emphasis on vine management and avoids the use of chemicals wherever possible. His wines have big personalities, just like the man himself.
This cuvée is a blend of Grenache, Tempranillo and Mazuelo produced from the Montesa vineyard on the slopes of the Yerga mountain to the east of the appellation, known for the quality of its clay and limestone soils. Produced by the well-known Alvara Palacios (Ermita), alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel vats, followed by an élevage of 12 months of barrels (85% French, 15% American). The wine is a cherry red colour. On the nose, aromas of ripe red fruits (strawberries and raspberries) and spices abound, and there is a herbaceous element. On the palate, the wine is velvety, fruity and spiced. The tannins are polished and the acidity balanced: a cellar-worthy wine.
