Information
After having made such an excellent name for the Domaine Marquis d'Angerville in Burgundy, Guillaume d'Angerville decided to fly the nest and set up shop in the Jura. In the last 10 years, Guillaume has gradually acquired three five hectares plots which form his new venture Domaine du Pélican, so called because of the pelican being the bird of Arbois. This young domain comprises some incredible and unique terroir. Some of the plots were completely untended for years by the previous owner. This allowed Guillame to replant vines on particularly healthy soil. And healthy these soils shall remain as Guillaume is invested in biodynamic viticulture.
The Domaine du Pélican consists of two old properties a few kilometres from Arbois that were acquired by the famous Marquis d'Angerville estate in Burgundy. Which is to say, expert winegrowers who know what they are doing with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, whether it is growing in Burgundy or the Jura. This Chardonnay is thus interesting in that it was almost certainly vinified by Burgundians, but the expression of the terroir does not appear to have suffered. A superb white wine!
