Information
Situated in the Italian Piedmont in the Langhe, Roero and Montferrat regions, the Renato Ratti domaine as been making top-flight wines since 1965. They are created according to environmentally friendly principles and the domaine has forged a fine reputation by working experimentally with the grape varieties in its vineyard.
The Nebbiolo grapes used for this cuvée are grown in an environmentally sustainable way in blue marl soil. The grapes are macerated for a week and the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in casks before being matured in French oak barrels. Tasting reveals an attractive garnet-red visual aspect and a refined, scented bouquet with fresh touches of licorice, menthol and cedar. The palate is also highly aromatic, powerful and tannic. This energetic wine should ideally be opened one hour before serving. A wine for laying down for several years to allow it to soften and form exquisite pairings with meat-based regional specialities.
