Toscana IGT Le Macchiole Messorio
Information
About the producer

Le Macchiole is located closed to the Tyrrhenian sea on the outskirts of Bolgheri. The name refers to the farm on which the vineyard was established in 1975. In 1981, dissatisfied with the quality of the wines his father was producing, Eugenio Campolmi decided to plant new vines. After Eugenio tragically passed away, his wife Cinzia took over the reins of the domaine, with the support of oenologist Luca D'Attoma. Wines are vinified in concrete barrels and vats, and the three grands crus produced on the domaine are single varietals – Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah.

About the wine

This cuvée was first created for the 1994 vintage. This pure Merlot wine has received some twenty days' fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks. It is complex and elegant, and will evolve beautifully in the bottle over time. So be patient before drinking!
