Information
Chantal Comte’‘s family moved to the Antilles in 1964 and Chantal began working as a bottler in the mid-1980s—a still uncommon activity for rum at the time—at the behest of André Depaz, owner of the Montagne Pelée plantation, and Paul Hayot, Depaz’‘ distiller. In those days, rhum agricole was less popular and the distillery had huge stocks. Comte visited distilleries and selected casks she deemed worthy of joining the range, often bottled at cask strength, like this 1980.
An old rhum agricole from Martinique distilled in 1980, selected and bottled at cask strength by Chantal Comte. It was produced by Distilleries Agricoles de Sainte Luce, who are also responsible for the Trois Rivières brand. It is one of the most sought-after bottlings from the Chantal Comte range.
