Information
The Canute family roots in the Barossa Valley, the heartland of Shiraz (or Syrah) go back eight generations The vines are cultivated on the clay soils of Vine Vale, with family spirit and passion. After travelling extensively, son Christian Canute creates wines on the domaine using methods to which he is fully committed: manual harvesting, destemming, fermentation in open vats, pressing, and ageing in oak barrels both old and new.
Rusden Wines produce ten cuvées and this is the second highest in the range behind Sandscrub. Maturation for 30 months in oak barrels (half American, half French) makes for a fruity, bold and beautifully balanced wine with plenty of character. The Canutes themselves describe it as a “New World wine made in an Old World style”. That should persuade overcautious sceptics to explore pastures new!
