Information
Lluis Lach and Enric Costa established this domaine comprising the ancient Priorat vineyard spanning the area between Porrera and Torroja in the early 1990s. Grenache and Carignan are grown in tiny parcels located on steep hillsides known as “trossos”. The Estate has 49 hectares with a soil containing llicorella, a regional slate. The proximity of the sea and the height above sea level counterbalance the hot climate. Winters are cold and nights are cool. Grapes are harvested by hand, vinification is carried out by parcel, and only indigenous yeasts are used during ageing in French oak barrels.
Embruix is produced in limited quantities from Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes which are all vinified separately before blending. This powerful and aromatic wine is matured in French oak barrels for 14 months. It is advisable to transfer it to a decanter before drinking and it pairs well with roast and grilled meat dishes, stews and cured cheeses.
