Loire Valley | 2004 vintage
After an unusual 2003 vintage with reduced volumes, 2004 is a classic and generous year, which nevertheless features a mixed bag of results. A long winter followed by an average, particularly wet summer, impacted on the health of the Gamay, Sauvignon, Vouvray and Montlouis. In terms of red wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon is by far the winner here. As for the dry whites, they are delightful when the fruit, minerality and tenderness dominate, but uninteresting when affected by dilution or botrytis. The few cuvées of sweet wine produced will soon be forgotten.
