Champagne | 2002 vintage
After a catastrophic summer, which left little hope, a magnificent and perfectly dry September ripened the grapes beautifully, which were picked in a very satisfactory sanitary state. The vineyards in the north of Champagne were indisputably the luckiest; as for the wines from other regions, although they were pleasantly concentrated, with a nice amount of alcohol, they were lacking in acidity, which is not conducive to freshness and cellaring capacity. The Chardonnay is opulent and perfumed, yet lacking in finesse, whereas the two varieties of Pinot are very good, with lots of richness, maturity and suppleness.
