Burgundy | 1985 vintage
An extraordinary vintage. 1985 produced remarkably concentrated and harmonious red wines, even if some of them were not quite up to the vintage's reputation. Bright purple, most of these wines asserted themselves in their youth with a rich aroma that alternated between blackberry and blackcurrant. Some of them show signs of reaching their peak: mellowness, and subtle hints of musk and noble fur. Others need a few more years cellaring, but are worth the wait. The white wines are holding back somewhat and require a few more years of patience before they reveal their full potential. These are very traditional wines. Some should be enjoyed straight away, while others suggest a longer-lasting framework and can be laid down.
