Alsace | 2006 vintage
The Alsace vineyards had a fairly cool spring followed by a very dry June and July. The region was hit by heavy rain from 17th September, through to the beginning of October. So the first pairs of pruning shears came out late in the season. The vintage differs from one domain to the next. Those achieving the best results come from wine-makers using biodynamics and, more generally, those that carry out a rigorous sorting at harvest. Their wines are crystal-clear, straight, powerful and firm, with a good ageing capacity. This was also a particularly good year for Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
