Alsace | 1995 vintage
1995 was fairly irregular and suffered from a damp September that incited the winegrowers, worried that the grapes would rot, into harvesting too early. They decided to hedge their bets and harvest grapes that were not sufficiently ripe and therefore not at their best. Those that waited were rewarded by an exceptionally fine and dry October that made up for September's bad weather conditions. This produced high-quality rich wines with a lovely acidity. The grape varieties that came out the best were Riesling, Muscat and Tokay.
