Alsace | 1994 vintage
The quality of this vintage varies according to the vineyards exposure. There was a considerable difference between the grapes at the bottom of the slopes, which had large yields producing wines too light and watery, and those on the hillside that were harvested later and which reaped the benefits of a dry, hot October. This reduced the yields and produced an extremely concentrated and full-bodied wine. The year also produced plenty of excellent Vendanges Tardives (Late Harvesting) wine. A relatively good-quality vintage.
