Alsace | 1989 vintage
1989 is an outstanding vintage. The result of an exceptional summer that produced highly-fragrant wines: heady, strong, rich and faintly acidic. However, they are not as consistent as those of 1990, especially the Gewurztraminer which produced over ripe grapes with low acidity. Both the vendange tardive (late harvests) and the noble berry selections are exceptional. Although the dry white wines are slightly heavy, the sweet wines are unequalled.
