        Maison Michel Picard

Established in 1951 by Louis Félix Picard, who owned two hectares of vineyards in Chagny, the domain was joined a few years down the line by Michel, then aged around 15, who left school to help his father on a daily basis. After strolling through some of the finest vineyards in Burgundy, he and his wife Liliane decided to take over the domain in the 1970s. They acquired a sumptuous domain, Château de Davenay, in 1986, and Château de Chassagne-Montrachet became part of the family business in 1997. Today, Francine Picard proudly runs more than 140 hectares of vines spread over four vineyards, nestling between the Côte Chalonnaise and the emblematic Côte de Beaune. While the overall acreage of the vineyard seems rather significant, the domain cultivates each parcel, however small, with a commitment to smart viticulture that is environmentally friendly and adapted to climate change. In this spirit, the domain follows organic farming principles, with 30 hectares of vines benefiting from the positive effects of biodynamic viticulture.
