Jean-Baptiste Senat

Follow the sun to domain Jean-Baptiste Sénat, a leading light of the region who showcases the potential of the Minervois with his terroir-driven wines. Tending his old vines organically, he produces fruity yet powerful wines of excellent quality.

Domaine Jean-Baptiste Sénat, at the heart of the Minervois AOC, covers some fifteen hectares. The running of the family business was taken over by Jean-Baptiste and his wife Charlotte in 1996, despite having had no plans to follow this path… proof that a qualification in politics can take you anywhere! The property they inherited is very rich in wine terms, with many old vines (some more than a hundred years old). They cultivate their vineyard organically, work their soils, de-earth under the vines, etc. The intention is to produce "vins de terroir" which are well made and full of fruit. This domain has risen to become one of the most emblematic and sought after in Languedoc.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

BETTANE & DESSEAUVE

LA REVUE DU VIN DE FRANCE

The Senat couple lead the way for younger winemakers in the region; they are part of a new generation of producers who are raising the Languedoc to the top tier of French winemaking, thanks to delicious, fruit-driven wines (Arbalète and Coquelicots or La Nine) and artisanal cuvées (Mais Où Est Donc Ornicar, Le Bois des Merveilles).
