Wine for sale: Glencraig (voire Glenburgie)
Glencraig (voire Glenburgie)
Scotland, Speyside. Distillery dismantled.
This single malt was produced at the Glenburgie distillery (Allied Distillers) from 1958 to 1981. The distillery was equipped with two Lomond stills in which it distilled Glencraig (or Glen Craig) for J&G Stodart and its blend Old Smuggler. Distilled in order to increase the scope of malt supplies for the group's blends, single malt versions of Glencraig are extremely rare on the market and primarily released through independent bottlers. Gordon & MacPhail offers a few vintages from 1968, 1970 and 1975 in the Connoisseurs Choice Brown Label and Rare Old ranges. Cadenhead primarily offers 1981 vintages matured in ex-bourbon (hogshead) casks. As for Signatory Vintage, the “distillery” appeared in the Cask Strength Collection with the ex-bourbon cask 1975 and 1976 vintages.
